concept
Communication should be unlimited! When the languages are different, could we communicate with each other? Deaf people use different language from us, so it’s difficult to communicate with them. Although gesticulation is a way to communicate, the development of sign language has been changed a lot that makes us become dif ficult to communicate with deaf people. Communication between normal peop le and deaf people is not as easy as we think anymore. They may try to express themselves in hand- written way , but we might lose their facial expression that makes our interaction eclipse.
Nowadays, with our well-developed technology, the communication fence between different languages should be broken to make Deaf people easily communicate with people face to face, achieving different languages, same communication.

problem & solution
Have you ever saw deaf people communication with each other? I have seen their communication full of different expressions on their face. If normal people want to talk with them, they only can use writing words as a communicative media. But, they may lose other expressions and their body language. In this case, I want to make a product, which can connect deaf people to the whole world.

features

Using gesture identification system, we can realize their language. According to this system, it can transform gestures into words and voice. Normal people can understand what they talk about. On the other hand, it also can translate voice into words that shows on the screen.

communication flow

The communication between deaf and normal people present as above picture. Trans translate sign language into words and voices, and transform voice into words. Trans connects deaf and normal people.

technology

The Kinect sensor is a horizontal bar connected to a small base with a motorized pivot and is designed to be positioned lengthwise above or below the video display. The device features an "RGB camera, depth sensor and multi-array microphone running proprietary software", which provide full-body 3D motion capture, facial recognition and voice recognition capabilities.
Using Kinect to recognize American Sign Language. Pairing Microsoft's oft-hacked motion sensing camera with custom software that previously required colored gloves kitted with wrist-mounted, 3-axis accelerometers.
